Résumé :
Un rendez-vous pour dîner après une dure journée de labeur sonne comme paradisiaque. Bien sûr, quand ce rencard se trouve être entre le Seigneur des Bêtes et Kate Daniels, les choses ne se passent pas comme prévues. En un clien d'oeil, les morts-vivants deviennent fous, des têtes sont arrachées, des avocats sont déployés et utilisés pour préjudice extrême et des vikings saouls se mettent à défier les gens.

J'adore cette série mais cette nouvelle, qui est un petit intermédiaire entre le tome 5 et 6, m'a un peu déçue.
Je ne sais pas si c'est parce que cela n'a pas été traduit par un professionnel mais par des fans (merci à eux tout de même et honte à l'éditeur français qui a laissé tomber cette série) mais j'ai eu du mal à retrouver l'univers et les personnages truculents de la série. Curran et Kate y sont beaucoup moins percutants je trouve. On y retrouve un poil d'humour, des péripéties mais il manque ce petit je ne sais quoi qui m'avait attaché à cet univers.
Cela se laisse lire cependant mais sans plus.

The Norse Heritage Foundation wasn’t so much about heritage as it was about Viking, in the most cliché sense of the word. They drank huge quantities of beer, they brawled, and they wore horned helmets despite all historical evidence to the contrary.
“Used to be?” Curran asked.
“They kicked him out for being drunk and violent.”
Curran blinked. “The Norse Heritage?”
“Mhm.”
“Don’t you have to be drunk and violent just to get in?” he asked. “Just how disorderly did he get?”

We can’t just call down to the Casino and tell him, ‘Hi, we’re going on a suicide mission, wanna bring some vampires to be our bullet meat?’” Bloodsuckers were expensive. The very idea of taking four or five of them into danger with minuscule chances of survival would give Ghastek an aneurysm.
“I have a plan.” Curran grinned at me.
“Please enlighten me, Your Majesty.”
“I’m going to make Jim figure it out,” Curran said.
“That’s it? That’s your plan?”
“Yes. I’m brilliant. Come on.”
“I have a plan.” Curran grinned at me.
“Please enlighten me, Your Majesty.”
“I’m going to make Jim figure it out,” Curran said.
“That’s it? That’s your plan?”
“Yes. I’m brilliant. Come on.”
“Kate, perhaps you need to explain to your significant other that he is in no position to give me orders. Last time I checked, his title was Beast Lord, which is a gentle euphemism for a man who strips naked at night and runs around through the woods hunting small woodland creatures. I’m a premier Master of the Dead. I will go where I please.”
