Miss Sproxton spotted my red socks in assembly! The old bag reported me to pop-eyed Scruton. He had me in his office and gave me a lecture on the dangers of being a nonconformist.

Bert was in a terrible state. He had lost his false teeth. He had them since 1946, they have got sentimental value for him because they used to belong to his father.

I read a bit of Pride and Prejudice, but it was very old-fashioned. I think Jane Austen should write something a bit more modern.
