Foster

It's the first time I read a book by this author. I really like novellas and love when the narrator is a child. So FOSTER seriously smoothed out my forehead. Now I want to read more Claire Keegan.

“It is something I am used to, this way men have of not talking: they like to kick a divot out of the grass with a boot heel, to slap the roof of a car before it takes off, to spit, to sit with their legs wide apart, as though they do not care.”

Ce 2ème roman que je lis de Claire Keegan m'a posé quelques difficultés au niveau de l'anglais, le parler rural irlandais étant totalement inconnu pour moi. Mais au fil des pages on s'adapte.
C'est une belle histoire qui est contée, avec une écriture simple, où finalement l'essentiel est suggéré plus qu'exprimé. Tout en retenue, les sentiments n'en sont que plus forts, et la scène finale est particulièrement touchante.
