The author attempts to teach us positive strategies to better handle our relationships at work (or in Life). But even if the metaphor of the “bucket and the dipper” is good, and despite there is obviously a basic truth in most of the advices provided to manage the situations and interactions described in the book, somewhat it looks too unrealistic to really sound right. Also disturbing is the way it sometimes gets very close to religious precepts like “to whom gives you a blow on the right side of your face let the left be turned”. Positive mindset is definitely an asset, but unfortunately doesn't fix everything in our cruel world. Everybody's friend is nobody's friend….

Everyone has an invisible bucket. We are at our best when our buckets are overflowing – and at our worst when they are empty.
Everyone has an invisible dipper. In each interaction, we can use our dipper either to fill or dip from others’ buckets.
Whenever we choose to fill others’ buckets, we in turn fill our own.
