The perfect epic hero's journey story. The first chapters are slow, but they are important. Only the Talisman will save Jack Sawyer's dying mother and he must embark on a quest across America in order to obtain it.

The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: his father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America–and into another realm.
Jack Sawyer is a great character, an emotional child, and I enjoyed reading this book.

Jack Sawyer is a great character, an emotional child, and I enjoyed reading this book.
