The proper use of the machine should be to make life more beautiful, more livable. No, not necessarily easier or quicker just to feed this American voracity which we call speed. If speed and destruction plus sanitation are to be the function of machinery among us, the machine will destroy us and its present idolatry will eventually defeat our attempt at a culture.
