I ran ran to the laundry room and yanked on the knob to stop the machine. By the time I found the paper among the wet, heavy clothes, the agitator had shredded it to tiny, damp, illegible bits. Maybe this was a sign that I shouldn't look further into the matter. Then again, maybe I was just a moron.
