Je vais commencer par dire que Sarah J. Maas est une de mes autrices préférées, sa série Throne of Glass - ou Kéléana en français - est une de mes préférées de tous les temps, et rien ne changera mon avis... cela-dit, je n'ai pas adoré ma lecture de ce 3ème tome.
Je dois avouer que j'ai commencé ma lecture en trainant un peu des pieds. Au départ, je ne voulais pas continuer cette saga, mais en vue de la fin du 2ème tome, je m'y suis un peu senti obligée. Pour ceux qui lisent la saga, vous saurez pourquoi. Bref, je ne commençais pas ma lecture du bon pied, mais j'ai quand même décidé de donner à ce livre toutes ses chances. Il y avait assez de personnages et d'intrigues que j'aimais dans les tomes précédents pour être curieuse de la suite.
C'est en écrivant cette chronique que je me rends compte que j'ai beaucoup de mal à savoir quels sont les points forts de ce tome et ce qui m'a donné envie de le lire jusqu'au bout. Il en a forcément, sinon, je n'aurais pas été jusqu'au bout, mais je n'ai aucune idée de ce qui m'a plu...
En revanche, j'ai eu un gros problème avec les changements de point de vue en plein milieu des chapitres. Moi qui d'ordinaire adore en avoir plusieurs, ici, je n'ai absolument pas compris ce choix de sauter d'un personnage à un autre en plein milieu d'un chapitre, alors qu'ils ne sont pas dans la même scène. Ça casse le rythme et me sort de l'histoire à chaque fois.
Pour ce qui est des personnages, j'ai quelques favoris - Lidia, Ruhn et Hunt - mais je ne me sens pas attaché à eux pour autant. J'ai trouvé que Bryce était insupportable et parfois même, manquait d'empathie envers Hunt.
En bref, déçu de ce tome 3, mais je sais quand même que je lirai la suite parce que Sarah J. Maas m'a dans la poche 🤡
J'ai beaucoup trop de pensées encore, mais je vais m'arrêter là. Par contre, si quelqu'un veut en parler avec moi, n'hésitez pas en commentaire ou en DM !

I'm gonna start this review by saying that I love Sarah J. Maas and her books. Her Throne of Glass series is one of my favourite series of all time, and for that alone, she has me wrapped around her little finger for ever and ever. Now that that has been said, House of Flame and Shadow was not it.
I went into this book hoping it was going to be better than book 2. To be honest, I finished book 2 pretty mad because of the ending. While pretty much everyone was freaking out and was so happy about it, I didn't like it. The reason being, I didn't think I was going to read book 3 of Crescent City, except now, I had to! Because if I wanted to understand everything properly in the next ACOTAR book, then I'd have to read this one as well. So yeah, I started it still kind of pissed but also hopeful.
There were enough characters and plot points that still interested me to continue and like this one.
But while trying to write this review, I realize that I have no idea what are the things that I liked about this book or what kept me reading it until the end. And that's when you realize Sarah J. Maas must have put crack into her books. I just finished reading an 800+ pages book, and I don't know what are the things that I liked about it. That's crazy to me.
However, the constant change in POVs in the middle of chapters, is one thing that I didn't like. I'm saying this as someone who loves having lots of different perspectives in a book, but here, we kept jumping from one scene to another in the middle of chapters, and to me, it had no business happening.
When it comes to the characters, while I have a few favourites - Lidia, Ruhn and Hunt - I can't say I felt as attached to them as I did in the previous books. Too many of them kept doing stupid choices, Bryce among them, and I thought she lacked empathy towards Hunt at times.
All in all, I'm disappointed in this book, but I'll still be reading the next one because I'm just a sucker for Sarah J. Maas and that's that on that.
