Biographie :
Jonhthan Romer Dull est un historien américain. Il s'est spécialisé dans l'étude de l'histoire diplomatique, militaire et navale des Etats-Unis et de la France durant les périodes coloniale (1650-1774), de la révolution américaine (1774-1787) et, de la révolution française jusqu'à la fin du Ier Empire (1789-1815).
Il a obtenu un AB à la University of Notre Dame (1964). Il s'engage ensuite pendant deux ans dans la US Navy lors du conflit au Vietnam, puis il poursuit ses études et obtient un doctorat à Berkeley, University of California (1972)
