Reed was advised by Ertegun to avoid controversial subject matter on "Loaded", and when one contrasts the versions of "New Age" found on this album and on "1969: The Velvet Underground Live", it's apparent that Reed took his advice, rewriting the lyrics and dropping the line "You know that it's my fancy to make it with Franky and Sue Ann" for a more innocent alternative.
