The Jakarta Textile Museum

It is difficult to compartimentalize Indonesian textiles neatly by technique, since a single textile may incorporate several techniques: batik with embroidery for example, or weft ikat with supplementary weft.

The collection stored in the Jakarta Textile Museum are all related to the world of cloth. They include implements for thread preparation and textile ornementation, weaving looms, non-woven cloth (made of beaten bark), woven cloth, and ready-made garnments.
