Lors du banquet de début d'année, Harry avait senti que le professeur Rogue ne l'aimait pas beaucoup. A la fin du premier cours de potions, il se rendit compte qu'il s'était trompé; en réalité, Rogue le haïssait.

'Fred, you next,' the plump woman said.

'Oh, you are Prefect, Percy ?' saif one of the twins, with an air of great surprise. 'You should have said something, we had no idea.'
'Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it' said the other twin.' Once -'

'All summer'.
'Oh, shut up,' said Percy the Prefect.

'Don't Ginny, we'll send you loads of owls'
'We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat.'
'George!'
'Only joking, Mum'.

It's tonight, said Harry, once he was sure Professor McGonagall was out of earshot. ' Snape's going through the trapdoor tonight. He's found out everything he needs and now he's got Dumbledore out of the way. He sent that note, I bet the Ministry of Magic will get a real shock when Dumbledore turns up'
'But what can we - '
Hermione gasped. Harry and Ron wheeled round.
Snape was standing there.
'Good afternoon' he said smoothly.
They stared at him.
' You shouldn't be inside on a day like this,' he said with an odd, twisted smile.

Harry told the other two about Snape's sudden, sinister desire to be a Quidditch referee.
' Don't play,' said Hermione at once.
' Say you're ill,' said Ron.
' Pretend to break your leg,' Hermione suggested.
' Really break your leg,' said Ron
