Canterville Ghost : The graphic Novel
Do you like the stories that make you shiver? If yes, this novel is for you !
This adaptation is a Graphic novel of the Carteville ghost ( the author is
Oscar Wilde) drawing by
Steve Bryant with 123 pages.
The American Otis family move into in the English stately home of Canterville Chase despite
warnings from Lord Canterville. A few questions remain :
Why is such a grand house for sale in the first place ?
What can possibly be wrong with it ?
Why doesn't Lord Canterville want to live there himself ?
There can only be one explanation : the house is haunted by Sir Simon de Canterville. He has been
reaming the halls and corridors for 300 years , even since he murdered his wife there ; but now this
new family has arrived to pester him !Now, what happens when they have to face the fact that Sir
Simon de Canterville is in the home ?
It is a classic story in a modern adaptation with colorful pictures : a graphic novel . A graphic
novel is a comic strip serious and ambitious, intended for a grown-up readership.
The coloring of this novel was created by Jason Millet.
The images are really coming to life, with an impression of three dimensions on the two
dimensional plane .
In my opinion, this story is interesting because it makes me shudder . The presence of the ghost is
disturbing yet funny, because he has very strange reactions for a ghost . I regret that he does not
have more dialogue there . This charming story is full of humour and wit, dealing with a culture
clash between “Modern America” and “traditional Britain” in the late 1800s.
If you are a hardcore fantasy fan, or someone who just wants an interesting read, this graphic
novel . I give it 6 out of 8 because I think it could have more rhythm there.
I recommend the book to fans of mysterious, fantastic story and especially to the people who like
laughing.
