With The Italian Metamorphosis, 1943-1968, the Guggenheim Museum has undertaken an ambitious project: to represent through a wide range of artistic expressions the mam transformations that took place in Italy in tins period. The challenge was a tempting on, an opportunity not to be missed: to present on the same stage the various facets that help define Italy today — its image as a nation of art whose present is deeply rooted in its past.
