Adam Gopnik est un journaliste, essayiste et écrivain américain.
Il passe son enfance à Montréal et obtient un BA en histoire de l'art à l'Université McGill avant de poursuivre ses études à l'Institute of Fine Arts de l'Université de New York.
En 1986, il commence sa collaboration avec le "New Yorker", où il produit des essais littéraires jusqu'en 1995.
En 1995, il se rend comme envoyé du journal à Paris, où il vit avec son épouse et son fils jusqu’en 2000.
C’est son livre sur Paris, "De Paris à la lune" (Paris to the Moon, 2000), qui lui a valu une grande reconnaissance, et un succès public considérable.
