What makes a murderer? This book pores you over the psychology of the killers.
Contrary to what it is known, here it's the documentary series that gave birth to the book! Through it,
Danny TIPPING and
Ned PARKER wanted to give an even fuller picture, including more of the research and explaining the protocols set up for making the documentary. They did a really huge work there!
The book features ten of the murdering cases from the first two series.
Each case exposes the story of the murder, narrated by the killer him/herself through two face-to-face interviews. The second interview is to challenge the killer with the opinions and feelings of the others: the victims' families, the killer's family, the police, the lawyers and the jurors.
Danny and Ned wanted to provide us with the version of everyone to give a complete picture of the murder and let us make up our own mind about the killers.
While reading the book, I noticed that there's a common thread in the stories. The killers (for the majority) had a terrible childhood (sexually abused, raised by drug addicts parents, experienced emotional deprivation while growing up, lived a chaotic lifestyle, etc). The background of one of the killers really broke my heart and made me cry, Pyro Joe.. His own dad set his back on fire to hide the savage beating by his own mom, his own dad also sold him to be anally raped for a jug of alcohol!
I do believe that the background, the accural of the emotions and terrible experiences are such a snowball that grows and grows and grows as it rolls turning into a fuel of that single moment where you commit that irredeemable act. It's true that it makes you closer to the edge.. Now, would it make you fall from the bridge? WILL YOU fall from the bridge?
