"Crossroads" est une chanson originale de Robert Johnson , écrite en 1936. C'est un morceau de blues, et l'adaptation la plus populaire est celle de Cream. C'était le premier single de leur disque Wheels of Fire en 1968 et comportait une vidéo en direct du morceau. Une partie du "Travelling Riverside Blues" de Johnson existe également dans la chanson.

L'intention lyrique a été débattue au fil des ans, certains disant que cela signifie vendre votre âme au diable, tandis que Samuel Charters, historien réputé du Blues, voit un angle racial, avec des références à la ségrégation raciale dans le deuxième couplet.

Clapton a utilisé le nom "Crossroads" à plusieurs reprises dans sa vie depuis cette sortie. Son album Greatest Hits s'intitulait Crossroads, et il a créé le Crossroads Guitar Festival en 2004, au profit de son Crossroads Center, une institution d'aide à la toxicomanie à Antigua.
