Nice reading if you already know about the author's story (book or movie) as it gives another point of view and some more details, especially about the Japanese culture. The writing style is quite abrupt, probably from the translation, but also because it is a bit childlike in it narrative. One thing I found very annoying is the constant defence of the Japanese culture. It's great to hear about its attributes especially since it is very different from western cultures, and I agree that it is very often misinterpreted (geisha is not prostitute, etc) but the author's tone is too agressive and insisting. Finally, I got slightly annoyed by the author's vision of herself - maybe I'm not used to autobiographies - she's the smartest, the most beautiful ever, the best of the best in every domain... and again, she is insisting.

Très bon témoignage qui rattrape le livre de Golden qui a sapé ses confessions comme geisha à Gion. L'histoire n'est pas romancé mais elle est très touchante quand on voit l'évolution de cette petite fille et comment elle s'est émancipée au fils des ans. à lire!
