Bien dosé, ce roman accroche l'attention du lecteur dès le départ. “NICE DIGS, he thought as he took out his wallet and grabbed a few bills to tip the limo driver. Had he shown up in his beloved beat-up pickup truck, it might have been a little harder to crash the party.”
Offrant une lecture prenante et agréable, ce livre se lit rapidement. Ce qui ne veut pas dire que l'écriture soit simpliste. Au contraire, on y découvre un riche vocabulaire.

He had to admit the house was impressive, though he couldn’t imagine living here. Where would a man prop up his feet, pop a top and flick on the TV to watch a Saints game?
There had been times when he'd hated his father. It was strange to come back and see him different. Left him with no place to put all the old anger.
Still, the idea of sharing a civil, meaningful conversation with his father felt about as comfortable as breaking in a new pair of boots.
