I thank my partner, Stephanie Wolters, for introducing me to
Lionel Shriver. She read this book aloud to me while on our way to the West Coast and back again on a family road trip to Paternoster. Abominations is a collection of essays, taken from a number of publications Shriver writes for, notably The Spectator. I pulled a star for her apparent blind spot concerning poverty and war (at least in this collection). The rest is through-provoking and confirms my belief that it I don't know how to fit into most categories - the world is grey.
