Ce programme de sauvegarde, restauration, catalogage et de numérisation du patrimoine écrit est le fruit de la coopération entre la BnF et huit bibliothèques patrimoniales et de recherche implantées au Proche-Orient (Le Caire, Alexandrie, Jérusalem, Istanbul, Beyrouth) grâce au soutien de la Fondation Total et du groupe Plastic Omnium. le site Bibliothèques d'Orient rassemble des collections remarquables (manuscrits, estampes, photographies, etc...) témoignant des liens entre l'Orient et l'Occident depuis plusieurs siècles, avec un accent particulier sur la période 1798-1945. Ces documents sont réunis dans des parcours thématiques et valorisés par des articles rédigés par des spécialistes internationaux.

Presentation of the Middle East libraries project by Marie-Dominique Nenna (CEAlex)
This programme aims at safeguarding, restoring, cataloging and digitising the written heritage. It is the result of a cooperation action between the BnF and heritage and research libraries located in the Middle East, thanks to the support of the Total Foundation and the Plastic Omnium group. The website brings together unparalleled collections (manuscripts, prints, photographs, etc.) testifying of the links between the Middle East and the West for several centuries. These documents are presented through themes and enlightened by articles written by international specialists.
