Après "Shaman's Crossing", Forest Mage nous raconte la suite des aventures de Nevare : expulsé de l'Académie militaire parce qu'il a pris trop de poids, rejeté par son père après l'épidémie qui a décimé sa famille, il prend la route de Gettys pour chercher dans la forêt un remède à ses maux.
Mais sa partie sauvage prend de plus en plus de place et il se retrouve en marge de la société, presque absorbé par son double magicien.
C'est un bon deuxième tome, où la magie s'explique de mieux en mieux. le personnage grandit lui aussi, pas toujours autant qu'on le souhaiterait (ah, Amzil...) mais à son rythme.

It was all so meaningless when I looked at it that way. It was meaningless in the same way as when I stood up from a game and then looked down on the scatter of playing pieces, and realized that they all were just bits of polished stone on a wooden board marked with squares.
