The time has come. I conquered my fears and finally read this bad boy, after seeing so many bad reviews about it. And you know what?? I actually really liked it. Even loved it! There are a few weak points, but honestly, it didn't deteriorate my overall enjoyment over this book.
I won't do a full review just because it's hard to do without giving spoilers about
Fourth Wing but what I can say is that, I loved going back to the characters. Violet is as strong as in
Fourth Wing, if not more, (she's also as thirsty as in
Fourth Wing), Xaden is still one of my favourites in this saga, and the dragons are still the most perfect beings.
Iron Flame is action packed, we do not stop for one second in this book, and I loved that. You really get the feel that they're all in deep shit (excuse my french) and there's no time to breath.
What I will admit though, is that we really go in circle in some of the dialogues between Violet and Xaden, so it can get repetitive on that front. That and the ending (!!!!!!!) is what made me give the book 4 stars instead of 5. It was still an amazing book to read and I can't wait for the one to follow
