Everything in this book is “not quite”. Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday are not quite cowboys. Their town, Long Grass, is neither quite Kansas nor quite New Mexico. There are a few Indians, a few buffalo, and a few women, of virtue or otherwise. They travel with their saloon signs, hoping for a better life elsewhere. Some of their friends die. Nothing else happens. I suppose this book is a parody of a Wild West story, but I was unable to see any humour or perhaps irony in it and ended up bored.
