A man sets out on à journey to a place he has never been before. Another man comes back. A man comes to a place that has no name, that has no landmarks to tell him where he is. Another man decides to come back. A man writes letters from nowhere, from the white space that has opened up in his own mind. The letters are never received. The letters are never sent.
Something happens. Or else, something does not happen. A body moves. Or else, it does not move. And if it moves, something begins to happen. And even if it does not move, something begins to happen.

Entaillé
sur cette croûte de champ - au jour
qui vient après nous,
où vous avez
presque vu la terre se reproduire: les
sillons résonnants se sont refermés,
et pour cette vie de plus vous avez racheté
contre le murmure avide
des faux. Comptez-moi donc
avec vos paroles. Rien,
même ce jour-là, ne changera.
Épaule
contre épaule avec de la poussière, avant
la lame et au
- delà de la haute herbe sèche
qui vire avec moi, je suis la
relique balbutiée de l’air .

Notched out
on this crust of field—in the day
that comes after us,
where you saw the earth
almost happen again: the echoing
furrows have closed,
and for this one-more-life have ransomed you
against the avid murmur
of scythes. Count me along, then,
with your words. Nothing,
even on this day, will change.
Shoulder
to shoulder with dust, before
the blade and beyond
the tall dry grass
that veers with me, I am the air’s
stammered relic.
L'impossibilité de trouver un mot qui égale le silence à l'intérieur de moi.
