The book is ok if you don't know anything about Madame de Pompadour. The writer's style is readable and quite informal. He describes the essential about Pompadour's life so you can get a first sketch of it. I put just two stars because it was not exactly what I expected: sometimes he describes things in a way you finish by not believing what he's saying; also, it gets a bit gossipy by moments. But as I said before, if you want to discover a little bit about Madame de Pompadour's life, this book is ok.
